Relations with the Mongols made up an era in Russian history. Its initial stage - the Mongol invasion and the subsequent statement of the IGA " - especially often attracts public attention with its mythologized reflections. Our goal is to help the reader understand the issue, presenting the actual material without conceptual mantles and a flura. The book is dedicated to the first contacts of Russians with the Mongols, the first meetings, wars, misunderstanding, conflicts and the search for forms of coexistence. Events in the book cover the first half of the XIII century. And are presented on the basis of the entire available complex of sources of both Russian and Western European and oriental ones. The reader reveals a canvas from disparate news and diverse concepts, providing the opportunity to interpret what happened himself. The author, of course, sets out conceptual accents in key places, but they are always deprived of references to ethnogenetic or geopolitical theories. The Battle of 1223, the Mongol invasion of Russia 1237-1240, as well as the first steps, according to the form of the dependence of the Russian princes on the Mongolian Horde, the Iga ", include detailed plots.
