In 1700, another war for dominance began in the Baltic region, which lasted 21 years and went down in history as a Great Northern War. The book tells in detail about the preparation for the war, the forces and plans of the parties, as well as the beginning of hostilities. The main attention is paid to the Rugodiv (Narva) campaign - an unsuccessful attempt by the Russian army under the command of Tsar Peter I to take the Swedish fortress of Narva.
