The architecture of the North -East Russia of the 12th century is a unique phenomenon in the history of Russian culture, which set the vector of its development for centuries ahead. Its extraordinary is not fully appreciated by us, since it entered the flesh and blood of our culture, has become its usual, natural foundation. Conceived for the embodiment of a new world, created, as it were, from a clean sheet away from the former centers of medieval Russia, directed to the magnificent eschatological ideals of its creators, this architecture paradoxically and organically fused the South Russian, Byzantine and Western European romance and early Gothic traditions, creating its own unintentionful image of the vision Mira. Chronologically and substantially synchronized by the tectonic cultural shifts that gave rise to modern Christian civilization, the architecture of North-East Russia had a serious response on the development of Western European architecture of the great time of the cathedrals. The architecture of North-Eastern Russia of the XII century, this book, written by a practicing architect-restorer, is dedicated to its creators.
