The monograph studies the ideological sources of the Holy Union, which completed the era of Napoleonic wars, discusses the projects of the eternal world and plans for peaceful reorganization of Europe. For the first time, the “folk war” as an ideological design of 1812 is considered in detail. Particular attention is paid to church sermon, in which the war and its leading people are being encouraged to biblical “prototypes”. Foreign trips sharply changed the official ideology, moving it towards cosmopolitanism - this is how the idea of the Holy Union was born. Among European diplomats and politicians, the Holy Union first caused suspicion and misunderstanding. But during the period of congresses, when the ideology of the Holy Union acquired the nature of political decisions, the European community passed from bewilderment to criticism. Meanwhile, all the desires to penetrate the essence of the plan of the Russian king, as well as the liberal criticism of the Holy Union, do not reveal his genuine essence, which is still largely mysterious.
