The book is dedicated to the charter of the German merchant courtyard (Petrova Courtyard) in Veliky Novgorod - the supporting point of the Russian trade of the Hansa in the XII? XV centuries. Three key editions of the Novgorod hid (XIII century, 1361 and 1603), documenting in detail all aspects of the internal organization, life and legal status of the German community in Novgorod, its relations with Russian partners, are represented in parallel (original Sredneeni-/Verkhneemetsky and Russian) texts, and the last edition is published in Russian for the first time. The book uses and studied the originals of manuscripts, some of which were considered forever lost during the Second World War. Numerous illustrations represent originals from 6 European archives and libraries.
