Gabriel Seile (1852 - 1922) - French historian of philosophy and painting, professor of the Sorbonne, the author of several works on aesthetics, sociology and moral philosophy, which had authority at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Based on all the information about Leonardo da Vinci, which he has accessible and systematized by him, the author discusses the contribution of this universal person to science, bringing many quotes from the manuscripts of the master. He puts the latter into the context of his modern noosphere and accompanies with detailed comments.
The main part precedes Leonardo"s biography, based on the biography of Giorgio Vazari and other, less well -known sources that are not available in Russian.
