In the book of A. A. Sevastyanova - a famous historian, historiographer, researcher of regional culture, the phenomenon of the provincial Russian historiography of the second half of the XVIII century is studied. And the monograph that has become a bibliographic rarity is published on historical works that appeared in 28 provincial, 10 district cities, as well as in the estates of the second half of the 18th century.
The revealed more than a hundred provincial works (almost half of them are copyright) change our ideas about the genesis of scientific thought. In the second part of the book, the reader will get acquainted with the articles of A. A. Sevastyanova of different years about the problems of studying regional history and culture, predecessors, essays on everyday life and the way of deep province of the mid -20th century. It tells about the fate of libraries and manuscripts, forgotten or unknown pages of life of Sergei Yesenin, Gennady Yudin and other figures of Russian history and culture.
