The North Renaissance is not so much a variation of a certain process for Europe as an independent, deeply peculiar phenomenon. German and Dutch artists Jan van Eike, Jerome Bosch, Albrecht Dürer, Peter Bruegel Senior and Matthias Grunewald were not limited to copying of individual forms of Italian painting, but embodied their own original vision, imbued with mystical attitude and symbolism.
