The new time is the era of the appearance on the historical scene of the modern person (Modern Self) For a long time, this process was associated with the "spellbound of the world" and the desire of a person to overcome the "minority through his own fault", identified with religion. However, faith itself, subject to renewal and changes in modern times, is the center of the formation of a modern person in Europe. This is evidenced by the materials of spiritual autobiographics. If we are talking about Russia, then here the formation of personal self -awareness, which began in the 17th century, is usually described as a result of the "regret" of state and society. The role and place of faith in this process is much less known. The presented collection is an attempt to fill the gap and thereby challenge the mandatory conflict of modernity and religiosity.
