This book arose at the insistence of my regular readers. Weekly on Thursdays in our magazine Chaik, they are used to reading my column Culture Week with Irina Tchaikovskaya. They insisted that I make a book out of this material. Cinema, theater, literature, music, journalism - these are the sections of the book that included the best that was written during these six years. It is easily read, because all the materials were written in one sitting, by inspiration. Shakespeare and Shostakovich, Kirk Douglas and Evgeny Mironov, Dostoevsky and Eifman, Dmitry Bykov and Mstislav Rostropovich, as well as many others - became my heroes. All of them, so different, are devoted to ridiculous, sad, and sometimes enthusiastic pages. Here you will find a cultural portrait of our time I saw in the mirror of the Channel Culture.
