This monograph is the first book of the project dedicated to the description of the basic categories of Russian culture of the XVIII-XX centuries, such as Russia, the West (Europe), the people, the intelligentsia, vulgarity, philistinism, boredom, in other words of categories belonging to the semantic nucleus of the potential text of Russian culture the specified period or the closest environment of this nucleus. The theoretical basis of the description is Stlk (sociocultural theory of lexical complexes).
The monograph contains the genesis and evolution of the lexical complex Boredom in comparison with its Western analogues {ennui, Langeweile, Spleen, Boredom), as well as synonymous complexes of the Russian language (despondency, longing, spleen).
The book is addressed to students and graduate students of the humanitarian faculties of universities, as well as a wide range of specialists interested in the problems of Russian culture of this period
