The book presents the story and genealogy of the ancient Smolensk service of Berdyaev, the first documentary mention of which refers to the list of Smolensk Tenths of 1574 during the Time of Troubles of the beginning of the 17th century. Part of the Berdyaevs was on Vologda, Beloozer and in the Poshekhonya, the other part of the family remained in the Smolensk region and served the Polish kings of the Vase dynasty. The counties, which were ruined in the Zamoskoye counties, are called in this book by the Yaroslavl family and divided into several branches, which received their names, most likely, at the place of basic land possessions. From the Yaroslavl family, the Berdyaev branch was also allocated, which had possessions in modern Ukraine, called conditionally Little Russian branch. This last belonged to the outstanding philosopher N.A. Berdyaev
