Alexander Fomich Veltman (1800 - 1870) - novelist, poet, archaeologist. Since 1816 he served in the army, participated in the Turkish war 1828-1829. In 1831 he retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel. The beginning of his literary fame dates back to the same year. In the early 40s. I was addicted to archeology. In 1842, he receives a place for the assistant director of the arms chamber, and after the death of Zagoskin is appointed by its director (1852) and holds this position to death. He edited the publication of the "antiquities of the Russian state"
