In the 1830s, the wonderful Russian artist Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, on behalf of the President of the Academy of Arts, performed the colorful watercolor sketches of the invaluable treasures of the arms chamber, the patriarchal rosema, the cathedrals of the Moscow Kremlin, the temples and monasteries of ancient Novgorod and other cities that were incredible accuracy. In the process of creating drawings, the artist managed to make a number of remarkable discoveries that clarified the dating and attribution of a number of monuments. Many objects sneaked in him have not been preserved to this day, and we can make an idea of them only thanks to the publication of the "antiquity of the Russian state", which saw the light in 1848. The publication, carried out at the command and at the personal funds of Emperor Nicholas I, consisted of 14 volumes - seven contained the text, and seven were albums of chromolithography.
