The monograph is devoted to the study of the place and role of the Old Russian state in the Eurasian communication system. It summarizes and develops the results of the long -term research of authors in the history of transcontinental and local routes of Eastern Europe (with surrounding regions, from Scandinavia to Byzantium and the Middle East), the historical geography of Russia and Eastern Europe, Old Russian, ancient nosandinavian and oriental source studies. Consideration of the history of Ancient Russia through the prism of its connections with the outside world in a wide historical-geographical, source and historiographic context indicates the organic inclusion of ancient Russia in the system of trade and other, non-profit relations between the countries of Europe and Asia.
