A collective monograph, the number of authors of which includes leading domestic experts, is devoted to the study of the innovative direction in modern science - historical imagology. The main attention is paid to the problem of comparative analysis of cultural phenomena in Western countries and Russia and the perception of “its own” / “other” / “stranger” in cross-cultural communications. It turns out in which way the image of a “stranger” turns into an image of an “enemy”, which prerequisites contribute to this process, how a similar transformation occurs, how long or short -term the specified process is, according to what criteria can be a view of a change in the images, under what conditions this phenomenon arises like xenophobia.
