For Russian history, Prince Alexander Nevsky is one of the iconic figures. This publication is dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the birth of this ruler, who stood at the origins of our statehood. The book introduces the reader to unique archival documents, manuscript books and museum objects related to the era of Alexander Nevsky, memorable events and places, the canonization of the prince-warrior and the history of his veneration. The first section presents the annals of the life and activities of Alexander Nevsky. Further, the reader learns about his canonization and church veneration. The book publishes icon-painting images of Alexander Nevsky, plans, types and photographs of the churches of St. Alexander Nevsky in the cities of the Russian Empire, a special place is reserved for the Alexander Nevsky Lavra. The presentation of the image of Alexander Nevsky in the award system of the Russian Empire, the USSR and the Russian Federation is accompanied by images of the orders of Alexander Nevsky of different periods, documents on their institution and awards by them.
A separate section of the book is dedicated to the film by S. Eisenstein Alexander Nevsky, which became the classic of Soviet cinema.
