Tabaristan is a medieval (IX -XII century) name of the province, located on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea (the current territory of Iran), between Gilyan in the West and Khorasan in the east. Since the XIII century, it has been known as Mazenderan. The book about the raids of Russians and Varangians from 880 to1200 in many historical sources almost unknown in Russia.
