The monograph is dedicated to a relatively young and rapidly developing direction in the field of development of distributed information systems - database replication technologies. At the time of preparing the material for the monograph, replication technologies for databases are poorly covered in domestic literature. The main sources of information in this area are monographs from foreign publishers, a few articles in domestic scientific journals, as well as discussions of various issues on Internet forums and documentation from developers of various replication systems. With this publication, the authors once again attempt to fill the existing information gap in this highly relevant direction.
In addition to the general overview, classification, and comparative analysis of modern database replication systems, the monograph presents a description of an original domestic development - a family of replication systems for distributed heterogeneous databases called 'ruSBSS'. In terms of practical application, the main emphasis is placed on the most promising cross-platform system of the family - 'xSBSS' (system's abbreviated logo - 'RSX'). Most chapters of the book can be used by IT specialists as methodological materials for the application of the 'ruSBSS' family of systems in the design of distributed information systems. In addition, the material of the book is addressed to students, graduate students, and university professors specializing in the design of distributed information systems. This is the authors' second monograph on the topic of database replication (see also [1]). It pays special attention to the aspects of cross-platform replication, the components of which work not only with different DBMSs but also in different hardware and operating environments.
