This edition presents, for the first time in full coverage, critical texts dedicated to the art of the poet of the first quarter of the 20th century, Vadim Gabrielovich Shershenovich (1893-1942): reviews of plays and concerts, feuilletons on theatrical and cinematographic themes, theoretical articles on theater, cinema, circus, variety shows, and biographical sketches of actors. Introducing them into contemporary research and readership is necessary for studying the culture of the 1920s, when theater and cinema played a huge role in creating the artistic picture of the era. Bold experimentation, the desire to find new forms of embodying the author's thought on stage and screen, and the understanding of the role of theater and cinema in the new era were close to the creative tasks of Shershenovich. In his texts, published in various periodicals, a broad panorama of cultural and primarily theatrical life of the 1920s is presented, as well as the author's humorous view on current issues related to the development of theater and cinema.
