This work is the first monographic study specifically dedicated to a comprehensive historical and comparative analysis of the issues of protecting state power through criminal law, based on legal monuments from the 11th to the 19th centuries, the Criminal Codes of the RSFSR from 1922, 1926, 1960, the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, criminal legislation of several foreign countries, and other regulatory legal acts of the Russian Federation, taking into account modern achievements in criminal law science. It demonstrates the genesis of criminal law regulation of responsibility for encroachments on power, identifies the trend in the development of criminal legislation on responsibility for the crimes under consideration, conducts an analysis, deepens and clarifies a number of theoretical provisions related to the characteristics of the offenses provided for in Articles 277, 295, 296, 297, 2981, 317, 318, 319 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, makes proposals for improving criminal legislation, develops recommendations for its application in investigative and judicial practice, proves the necessity of independent criminal law protection of the head of state - the President of the Russian Federation, explores its conceptual foundations, and presents a theoretical model of the corresponding chapter of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The legislation is current as of September 2015. Intended for students, postgraduates, teachers of legal universities, researchers at research institutes, judges, prosecutors, investigators, and lawyers.
