Teaching creative writing is a cultural field that traces its roots back to antiquity but only received institutional embodiment in the 20th century. It often arouses distrust and irony from the academic community, yet it has also given an impetus to the development of philology, equipping researchers with new perspectives and analytical tools that allow viewing the composition of a literary text from the writer's point of view. This collection introduces a new scientific direction in the Russian field of humanities - creative writing studies, in the Russian version - 'исследования литературного образования' (literary education research). The authors address a wide range of problems and themes that can be considered part of creative writing studies and that help outline the boundaries of the direction: from pedagogical practices, study of writers' institutions, questions of the status of the writer and literary literature in society to the sociology and economics of creative writing, as well as the consequences of the development of literary education for literature itself. The collection consists of three sections: the first is devoted to the history of the development of creative writing from the 18th to the 20th century, the second to individual aspects of its theory, and the third to translation issues. Compilers M. Kucherskaya, A. Bazhenova-Sorokina, A. Chaban, and D. Kharitonov.
