The English Royal Embroidery School was founded in the UK at the end of the 19th century by Princess Elena Schleswig-Holstein, the daughter of Queen Victoria. The main goals of creating the school were the preservation of manual embroidery as a form of art, as well as providing a form of employment to women of noble origin, who found themselves in constrained circumstances.
The purpose of this world famous book is to introduce all fans of embroidery with technicians developed by teachers of the royal school. We hope to inspire not only experienced needlewomen, but also beginners and those who are in search of ideas for new projects. The book includes step -by -step illustrations and instructions, as well as bright reproductions of magnificent embroidery. The publication examines the most popular embroidery techniques in detail: silk surface, gold sewing, artistic surface and blackword. All techniques are presented in the context of historical development with transfers of tools and materials. Also, for each technique, lessons are presented for beginners and four samples with step -by -step instructions, illustrations and detailed lists of materials.
“The English Royal Embroidery School” is not only a valuable guide for embroiderers, but also an excellently illustrated publication that will decorate the library of a needlework lover. The book is focused on a wide range of readers
