Paul Tillich was an outstanding German-American theologian and existentialist philosopher. Until 1933, he taught at several German universities. After the Nazis came to power, he emigrated to the United States and taught at Harvard. Tillich's philosophical system is built at the intersection of theology, philosophy, and psychology, where he sought to unite religion and culture in a single theory capable of answering existential questions about the meaning of life, loneliness, the interaction between humans and the world, and more. In his most famous work, "The Courage to Be," Tillich addresses the theme of anxiety and offers ways to overcome it. This and other works by Tillich gained worldwide recognition and had a significant influence not only on contemporary theology but also on existential psychology. One of the most famous representatives of this direction, Rollo May, was among Tillich's students.
