In the second volume of the trilogy, Jeff Lemire tells the story of the lives of the Lebouf brothers, Lou and Vincent, and their relationships over almost seven decades. The older brother, Lou, a deaf and lonely old man, is spending his last days on the farm. He is overwhelmed by feelings of guilt and regret for his actions that destroyed his family. All that remains for Lou now is to reminisce about his childhood on the farm, his youth in Toronto where he played hockey with his brother in a professional club in the 1950s, and bitterly regret the decisions he once made. Now he is just a silent observer, haunted by his own memories.
