The next volume of the illustrated collection of works by Alexandre Dumas includes another brilliant travel epic "The Corvette "Swift", for which the writer interrupted his Parisian novel about Cagliostro at the most interesting point and, in the company of like-minded people, set off to the East. The company was excellent: three writers, Dumas father, Dumas son, Auguste Maquet (co-author of "The Count of Monte Cristo" with the father), and three artists, Boulanger, Jiro, Debarol (a writer and a palmist by profession). The black continent appears before the magnificent six with all its facets: sultans and sultanas, bazaars and janissaries, storms, sieges, raids, Tangier, Algiers, Tunis, the ruins of Carthage. The crew of the wheeled corvette fears neither corsairs nor Tuaregs and is ready to plunge headlong into the mists of Gibraltar.
