The list cited here is not a list of Jewish dishes most popular today and does not reflect someone’s idea of the most delicious or even just tolerable. But what is on this list is the dishes and products that are of particular importance for Jews - those that throughout history (no matter how dated it) the rhythms of the Jewish calendar and events that formed Jewish traditions most deeply reflected. Many dishes and products in the list are well known to everyone - no one thought of leaving a chicken soup, or a grandmother, or Shakshuku, or ... Matsu.
