A traveler, the author of hundreds of articles and thousands of speakers, a fan of eating and drinking, a collector, photographer and journalist Gennady Josephavichus wrote an ideal book for a pleasant vacation in a gloomy covid era and expanding a gastronomic horizon. After reading you will definitely love Georgia and its kitchen. After all, according to the author, Georgia is one continuous luxurious feast against the background of amazing nature and ancient artifacts. People in this country are only engaged in the fact that they eat a lot and deliberately and fantastically drink, make wine themselves and store it in the basements of old castles, sing songs, dance and love beautiful and silent women. Well, sometimes they visit the churches and paint pictures.
The heroes of the book go on a large Transcaucasian gastronomic trip, pass Georgia through and through and in every village they manage to eat all the most remarkable. Along the way, they, together with friends, plunge into the memories of the Soviet era and the “dashing 90s”, poison endless tales and jokes about Georgian (and not only) celebrities and, of course, describe their feelings from past and real feasts. And so deliciously that I want to run to Georgia to try Elarji, Kharcho, boiled goat and bathing in the Mingrelian restaurant at an abandoned Tbilisi hippodrome. Or Satsivi, Lobio, rural chickens, “Goruli Mtzwana” “Tavkver belt, Shavkapito” and “Saperavi” from the princely basements of the Chateau “Muhra”. Or Tsotshali, giant cutlets and cognac alcohol in the lap of uncle Karaman. Or Khachapuri and Kaurm in a restaurant in Kazbegi. Or Khinkali of all stripes in roadside hardware. Salunas invariably flow from the descriptions. By the way, the recipes of all the most delicious and amazing (including an anti -mall soup with an egg) are attached. And they are written in such a way that it is almost impossible to stay and not to cook. And the whole book pleases with an excellent literary syllable and impeccable style. The influence of Dovlatov, Bitova and Venichka Erofeev is felt. The author is an amazing storyteller and easily captivates us
