In this fascinating book from the culinary historian Annie Gray, the tradition of Downton Abbey is presented in more than 100 recipes. These are recipes for dishes that demonstrate the customs of the Crowley family, as well as typical for the British aristocracy and servants at the beginning of the 20th century. The book consists of two parts: luxurious dishes above and simple meals below. Some of the recipes are adapted for the present, and some are left in its original form in which they were mentioned or recreated on the screen. Annie Gray also gives rich and exciting information about the background of dishes that were popular between 1912 and 1926, it was then that the actions of the “Downton Abbey” are unfolding - a period of colossal changes both in society and in cooking.
