This volume opens a series of anthologies presenting to a wide readership works written in the languages of the Commonwealth countries after 1991. Over thirty years of independence, literary art continued to develop in each of these countries, with new authors emerging, about whom readers of Russian are insufficiently informed.
The publication of the series fills a regrettable humanitarian gap, allowing for a comprehensive and vivid picture of the contemporary state of literature in the CIS countries (both current and former members) and provides insight into the most relevant themes and issues raised by authors today.
The anthology includes artistic translations into Russian of prose works by writers from eleven countries, overview essays on the state of contemporary prose, and brief biographical notes about the authors.
The book is aimed at the widest circle of readers who speak Russian.
