The issues of creating methods for calculating the contact characteristics - the relative area of ​​the contact and the density of the gaps - at the junction of the rough surfaces of stationary sealing joints by improving the discrete model of roughness and approaches to describing the contact of unit unevenness are considered. The elastic contact of individual irregularities, taking into account the influence of the remaining contacting irregularities and elastic contact, are considered in detail, taking into account the influence of the parameters of hardening of the material, the issues of contacting the rough surface through the coating layer, unloading pre -loaded sealing joints, the influence of elevated temperatures on the contact characteristics.
