This textbook is dedicated to the theory of constitutional law in Russia. The book covers fundamental issues that define the sectoral, scientific, and educational identity of constitutional law: constitutional law in Russia as a branch of law, sources of constitutional law in Russia, interpretation in Russian constitutional law, responsibility in Russian constitutional law, major schools in the history of constitutional law science, and the history of teaching constitutional law at the Moscow University Law Faculty. The genre of this textbook is characterized as a "textbook-casebook." This combination stems from a special teaching method that combines educational exposition of scientific and dogmatic material, allowing to form basic knowledge and develop a scientific "taste" for constitutional law in students, with a practice-oriented analysis of real court cases (cases) that should teach students to understand legal argumentation and apply its rules to various issues of constitutional law.
The book can be useful to a wide range of readers interested in constitutional law issues. However, its primary audience includes students, postgraduates, teachers, researchers engaged in studying, teaching, and researching Russian constitutional law within general educational courses and specialized bachelor's and master's programs, as well as practicing lawyers, including judges, attorneys, and government officials.
