The whole of London was shaken by the notorious murder of the prominent publicist Fetters, who was shot by his closest friend, a well-known politician. The investigation was entrusted to the superintendent of the metropolitan police, Thomas Pitt. Based on his testimony, the jury in court delivered a verdict of 'guilty', even though no direct evidence against the accused was found.
