Translator from English: Vadim Valeryevich VASILIEV, Doctor of Philosophy. Head of the Department of the History of Foreign Philosophy and Professor at the Philosophy Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Author of works on the history of philosophy of the Modern Age, German philosophy, and analytical philosophy of consciousness. Among his recent works are the books 'CONSCIOUSNESS AND THINGS: An Outline of Phenomenalist Ontology', 'The Hard Problem of Consciousness', and 'Philosophical Psychology in the Age of Enlightenment'. This book, first published in 1996, became one of the most notable philosophical treatises of the late 20th century. Nowadays, it is impossible to find serious works on the problem of consciousness that do not reference Chalmers. 'The Conscious Mind' is a fascinating philosophical story about the deepest paradoxes and mysteries of consciousness. It is a provocative work in which an attempt is made to justify 'naturalistic dualism', based on the author's thesis about the non-physical nature of consciousness and its dependence on functional schemes in the brain. Chalmers also argues that his theory opens new perspectives for the interpretation of quantum mechanics and allows for the possibility of conscious robots.
