Leo Tolstoy once claimed that all unhappy families are unhappy in their own way, while all happy families are alike. This idea can be applied to people in general and even to society as a whole, and examples of happy individuals give hope that happiness is quite achievable under certain conditions. Bertrand Russell took the courage to break down the abstract concept of happiness into its components and prove that happiness primarily depends on a person's personal efforts and only then on external circumstances.
