The real publication included two of the most important religious and philosophical labor of L. N. Tolstoy-“confession” and “about life”. At one time, these works were prohibited for publication by spiritual censorship. And if the “confession” diverged throughout Russia in manuscript copies, then the writer’s essay was not known to the wide reader. In Confession, Tolstoy recreated the underlying, outwardly inconspicuous process, which has occurred in his spiritual life for several decades. “There was a coup with me, which has long been preparing in me and whose rudiments were always in me,” he wrote. Tolstoy peered with maximum attention in the years, trying to answer questions that concerned him, the most important of which was the question of faith. Tolstoy sought to determine the essence of the coup that had happened to him, but understood that he was at the very beginning of the journey. “Confession” is the first work on this path, “About life” - a book of summing up
