The presented book is the first part of a large -scale study “Petersburg ballet. 1850s ”, which considers the activities of the choreographers who worked in the Russian capital (Jules Perrault and Joseph Mazilier) and performances staged by them during these years.
The described period is the least investigated both in the history of the Russian romantic ballet in general and St. Petersburg in particular. This study is designed to expand and supplement the available information.
