"Book with a coma" (or Ostep) is the result of almost 20 years of teaching the course "Introduction to Operating Systems" for students and undergraduates at the Faculty of Computer Sciences of the University of Wisconsin.
The book discusses the three fundamental concepts of operating systems:
-virtualization (processor and memory)
-competence (locks and conditioned variables)
-long-term storage (discs, RAID massives, file systems)
Combining reading a book with homework and work on serious projects, readers come to a deeper understanding of modern OS.
Remzi and Andrea Arpachi -Dusso - professor of computer science at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. They are engaged in research in computing systems for more than 20 years. More than 100 works on the performance and reliability of modern OS were published, paying special attention to file systems and storage systems. Their works were awarded numerous awards, and some innovative proposals were included in modern versions of Linux and BSD
