The book, created by talented choreographers, dancers and teachers, summarizes the experience of teaching the foundations of a characteristic dance in the Leningrad Choreographic School (now - the Academy of the Russian Ballet named after A. Ya. Vaganova) Its first edition was published in 1938 and is now a bibliographic rarity. However, the content did not lose its significance as a methodological manual: here the main movements of dances of different peoples and the methodology of their teaching are presented here, their connection with the classical dance and differences from it are determined.
