Database is one of the areas of the IT industry, in which technologies for reliable storage of large volumes of information, its effective search and extraction at the request of consumers are traditionally considered. The material presented in the textbook covers the basic phases of the database life cycle: the main concepts, problems and elements of the theory of databases are consistently discussed, the processes of their design, programming and management are considered, as well as the technologies of database administration in order to achieve high productive access to data and ensuring the required level of information security. The database is considered as an information model of the subject area, and its development is as a multi -stage process of a consistent transformation of the conceptual model into a logical (relational) data model at the design stage, subsequent software implementation of the logical model by SQL tools and setting up the parameters of the physical model during the operation of the database.
The main attention is paid to the applied aspects of the database technologies, the presentation of the material is accompanied by numerous examples and listings of the software SQL code, as well as practical tasks for the design, programming and administration of databases for independent execution.
