The textbook is intended to study the practical use of the SQL and NOSQL DBMS in the design of information systems. Analogies were drawn between SQL and NOSQL data databases. The theoretical knowledge gained is fixed when performing a cycle of laboratory work. Work with SQL DBMS is studied on the example of the DBMS Mariadb. The issue of using well -established applications (for example, PHPMYADMIN, MySQL Workbench) is considered. Work with NOSQL DBMS is studied on the example of the Mongodb DBMS using the Robomongo shell. The possibility of using a universal DBEAVER database manager is shown to simultaneously work with the MARIADB and Mongodb DBMS. Examples of information systems based on both types of DBMS - SQL and NOSQL are given. Designed for students of secondary vocational education institutions studying in the enlarged group of specialties 09.02.00 “Informatics and computer technology”, as well as bachelors, undergraduates, graduate students and specialists in the design of information systems and databases, as well as for everyone who is interested in the design of information systems
