The publication discusses in detail such concepts as a meaningful task, data, information, knowledge, as well as features, methodology and technology for working with them. Separately, some tools of ordinary and intellectual data analysis are considered. The presentations are carried out from the standpoint of meaningful tasks and the theory of measurements, allowing to substantiate, from a mathematical point of view, the correctness, accuracy and adequacy of the decisions and the results obtained. Upon presentation, the emphasis is placed on current standards, including: on the international quality standard ISO 9000, IEEE, etc. This publication may turn out to be useful to specialists and students of universities (especially magistrates) who study and apply modern analysis methods in solving the problems of operational and complete extracting information contained in the data and acquisition of new knowledge. This publication corresponds to various disciplines taught in universities: "information processing technologies" and "intellectual systems and technologies", "databases and data management" and may turn out to be useful for students (undergraduate and magistrates) of university engineering faculties, as well as graduate students and middle -sized teachers and higher educational institutions
