Paul Taffanel (1844–1908) was a French flutist, composer, and educator who influenced multiple generations of performers. In collaboration with his student and follower Philippe Gaubert (1879–1941), he created the instructional book "Complete Method for Flute," which remains a crucial resource for the education of flute players to this day, serving as a kind of "encyclopedia of flute playing."
This collection contains one of the eight sections of this work, specifically the seventh chapter "On Style," dedicated to working on the stylistic features of flute playing through examples of various compositions. It includes excerpts and cadenzas from works that have become classics, as well as popular pieces from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The presented pieces are preceded by descriptions of the stylistic characteristics of each, and throughout the excerpts, there are instructions on how to play specific passages and what to pay attention to.
This collection is aimed at students of specialized music schools and flute players who are eager to understand the stylistic nuances of compositions from different eras.
