A bright and unusual expedition under the leadership of academician N.K. Essentially, it began at the end of 1923, immediately upon the arrival of the Roerich family to India, and went from Darjiling through Kashmir, Ladak, Sinjiang, Soviet Russia (Moscow, Altai, Buryatia), then Mongolia (southwestern Gobi) and Tibet, ending in Darjiling in the spring of 1928
The expedition had multifaceted goals and objectives. Their comprehension both on the basis of the publications of reports about her of the Roerichs themselves shortly after its completion, and in connection with the recently published diary records of its main participants, for the researchers for a long time inaccessible, and allows us to talk about the unique nature of this extraordinary event in history in history study of Central Asia.
