In the interwar period 1935-1941 In Europe, a new genre of art - a comic book has successfully established itself. Among the many variations, a special place is occupied by the phenomenon of the Russian comic book, created in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia by Russian emigrants - publishers, artists, scriptwriters.
The study of Irina Antanasievich, Russian-Serbian philologist, literary critic, translator, doctor of philological sciences, professor of Belgrade and Honorary Doctor of Tyumen Universities, by the will of the fate for more than 30 years living in the Balkans is devoted to this completely unknown topic in Russia.
History of the Serbian comic book
The history of the European comic book of the period of formation cannot be represented without the Yugoslav page. Comics of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia were translated and printed in all major European comic book magazines. Yugoslavia confidently felt in the framework of the new genre, forming and developing it. In Yugoslavia itself, a comic book, appearing at the junction of the XIX-XX centuries, was developed, including thanks to the Russian names that made up its core.
Russian emigration has done a lot for the kingdom of Yugoslavia: architecture and bridge building, ballet and opera, theatrical art, forestry business and medicine, mechanical engineering, science and philosophy - Russian names are found everywhere. And when it comes to the development of such a genre as a comic, then there are so many Russian names that there is a temptation to name the Yugoslav comic book of the interwar period by a Russian phenomenon. Publishers and entrepreneurs, artists and screenwriters, translators and popularizers - they formed the basis of the Golden Age of the Yugoslav comic book and entered the European comic and Russian topics, and Russian art traditions
