Hellboy is akin to the characters of the dark fantasy: a strong, suffering, well known to his nature, always ready for what Tolkien called "eucatastrophe" - voluntary self -sacrifice for the good of mankind. It is curious that Mignola often masks the appearance of an entertaining reading very difficult things. At the same time, the narrative - jumps forward and back in time, weaving of historical realities, references to literature, folklore, religion, Celtic myths, the mention of Ragnark and Russian evil spirits, myths and plots about the end of the world of many cultures - is nourished by life. The plot here is by no means an attempt to score a place between fights. All stories of the monsters appear here are very human.
