The first volume of the textbook is devoted to the basics of general ecology in the context of global environmental changes. Particular attention is paid to the structure, properties and functions of the biosphere in modern conditions. The chemical processes that occur in the biosphere and the main biogeochemical cycles of the most common elements in the environment are considered. A comprehensive characteristic of lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrospheres and pedosphere is given, as well as the available information about the environmental consequences of the pollution of these spheres of the Earth. A wide range of pollutants is presented and a comparative analysis of their migration and accumulative ability is given.
