Cognitive-Pragmatic Origins of Phraseosemiosis

The book sets the task of comprehending the cognitive-pragmatic stimuli of phraseosemiosis - the process of indirectly-derived generation and semantic interpretation of phraseology. The participating neuro-linguistic mechanisms in phraseosemiosis are examined. The concepts of discursive-modus concept and phrase-forming frame are introduced, revealing their phrase-generating potential. These concepts serve as a means of identifying the cognitive (conceptual-frame) substrate of phraseological semantics and its semantic modification in speech. The idea is put forward that the frame combinatorics of discursive-modus concepts not only ensures the realization of the value-semantic potential of cognitive-proverbial code, but also serves as a means of communicative-pragmatic determination of phraseological wordplay in artistic discourse.
