The reader is offered a book by the French biologist and philosopher, a representative of natural scientific materialism F. Le Dantec (1869-1917), in which he develops his philosophical and socio-ethical concepts. In his opinion, the mind by its nature does not qualitatively differ from physiology, and therefore consciousness is not an independent reality, but only an epiphenomenon - an appendage to the phenomenon, a side effect. One of the main tasks of this book is to show that epiphenomenal consciousness is accessible for study through empirical methods.
The book is recommended for philosophers, historians and methodologists of science, psychologists, biologists, as well as all interested readers.
