The book by the writer Sergey Makeev tells about real people who served as prototypes for famous literary characters. The author introduces readers to the authentic d'Artagnans, Cyrano de Bergeracs, Robinson Crusoes, Count of Monte Cristos, Sherlocks Holmes, and many other characters who are considered fictional by writers. In each essay, the author conducts a kind of literary-historical investigation: who served as the "model" for the writer and what character traits he added, what events enriched the prototype's biography to create this "enhanced reality," the name of which is literature.
